SpeekuHow to say

How to say you're welcome in European Portuguese

What people say, and how it sounds.

The answer
you're welcomede nada/dɨ ˈnadɐ/
oh, not at allora essa/ˈɔɾɐ ˈɛsɐ/

The short answer

De nada, literally of nothing, is the reply to any obrigado. Ora essa is the warmer Portuguese version, closer to oh, don't mention it, and it often comes with a wave of the hand.

In a shop you will also hear não tem de quê, there is nothing to thank for.

d'NA-da

De shrinks to almost nothing, so it is d'NA-da with the stress on na. Ora essa is O-ra ES-sa, both words stressed on the first syllable.
